The Emerald Bowl

Krabi & Phi Phi | Thailand

“In Thailand, the water isn’t just blue—it’s a glowing emerald that feels like a filter in real life. Navigating these lagoons feels like entering a natural amphitheater, where towering limestone cliffs wrap around you to create a sanctuary of perfect reflections and saturated hues.”

Summary

The Emerald
Basin

Documented during a 2015 expedition, this study captures the dramatic karst topography of the Krabi and Phi Phi regions. The collection focuses on the intersection of traditional nautical design—specifically the Ruea Hang Yao (Longtail boat)—and the vertical limestone architecture of the Andaman Sea. It is a visual record of how life and transit are organized within these natural amphitheaters of emerald water and sheer cliffs.
